UPDATE! no entries were received that the editorial committee felt expressed the Club ethos better than Megan, so Megan remains Undefeated Poetry Champion of The Gers!
As we creep closer to April and the hope of Group Training for all ages being permitted, we thought it was an opportune time to publish this
'Ode to The Gers'.
Written by Megan, one of our Juvenile girls, it shows the desire to return to training and games - something so many Children & Adults have missed for most of the last year!
While we reckon Megan's poem will be hard to beat, we welcome all challengers!
While we won't publish your name (if U18) we will give a prize of a Gers Bobble Hat to the best poem received before Easter 2021! Entries to foxrockgeraldinesgaa@gmail.com

ODE TO ‘THE GERS’
If I could paint, I’d show you
something I see most days
a thing that fills my heart with joy
my field for G A A
The view might not be for everyone
but for me, they are pure heaven
the twinkling lights of Dunnes Stores
and the busy N11
The grass might not always be green
but when I see it I am keen
to put on my boots and start to play
even if it’s a mucky day
Even though it’s in Foxrock
the clubhouse would really give you a shock
It really is just a shed
not a chance you would get a big head!
On the field I have left a range of emotions
pain, joy and devastation
fear, anger and elation
I could paint for all to see
all the joy it brings to me
The fun I have had
the games I have played
this Field of My dreams
will always be in my heart
even though my big dream is Croke Park
