The Club Executive has been advised by our Games Promotion Officer (GPO), Johnny Magee, that he will depart his role at the end of September.

Johnny will take up a new role with a club nearer his home.

Johnny has been an outstanding GPO for the past 8 years having replaced his brother Darren in the role.

He has built great relationships with players, young and old, parents, coaches, the local schools and community.

He has played a key leadership role on a wide range of initiatives during this time and his generosity with his time and his experience of coming through the GAA system, both as a player and GPO has been much appreciated.

There are so many highlights during his tenure such as the growth in our academy, our rapid growth in female participation, increasing numbers of girls and boys joining county development panels, the start of our All Stars, the re-introduction of the sliotár to Cornelscourt for boys and girls and the memorable county finals days in all codes for our adult teams.

Johnny's fingerprints were on all these achievements.

We will shortly with the County Board's assistance commence a process to find a new GPO.

Johnny's presence and that of his daughters, who helped with the summer camps, will be missed around Cornelscourt but he will leave with our gratitude and very best wishes to him for his new role.

We are also grateful for all the time Lauren spent coaching in the club and in supporting many of our club initiatives and in particular being a great role model for our young female members.

We will be hosting an event in early October to mark his departure and to give Johnny the farewell he deserves. Watch out for more details closer to the date.
